Back in Bands

My visit to the orthodontist was quiet eventful. I told him what the surgeon said about a second surgery. He said he would do everything possible to keep me from another surgery, but he could make no promises. He put a thick wire on top and said it should fix my underbite. He then added a mouth of bands to pull the teeth together in the back. My bite still doesn't sit right.

I am so hoping this works. Actually, while wearing the bands, I haven't had any popping or sliding in my jaw, so maybe it is working.

My face is still swollen and hurts and I have a funny looking smile, but otherwise I am doing pretty well.

Blessings to you all!!! : )

  3. Hi Rita,
Thanks for the comments and support :) It looks like you are doing really well--You got a lot more done than I did. Are you happy with the results?

  4. I must have missed the part about the second surgery. Your surgeon thinks there might be a chance you will need a second one? I hope the ortho can get things worked out and you won't have to go through that again.
I can see in your picture that you do still have swelling. It's the same swelling I have. Oh well, I've come to accept it. It will go down eventually. You look great!

  5. Thanks Katherine and Stephanie. I appreciate the prayers and encouragement.

Hey marjorie, I think I am happy with the results. My bite is still off a little causing me to bite the inside of my mouth and I think my smile looks funny but hopefully it is just the swelling. I hope so anyway. You look great after surgery. Makes the rest of us jealous. : )

Hey Aimee, yes a second surgery, but I really don't want any more. As you know, it is a very hard surgery. I have had a relapse in my right side. He said it is because he moved my bottom jaw forward 8 mm and my top jaw has settled down some. My orthodontist is great so I am hoping he can take care of it. I am glad you can tell I still have swelling, because swelling does go down and maybe my smile will change a little more. I am glad you are doing well. : )

  7. Hey Rita.

Sorry to hear about your jaw problems. Hopefully your orthodontist will be able to take care of it. A second surgery doesn't sound pleasant.

    Blessings to you :-)

  8. Hi Rita!
It's nice to meet you too, I've gotten a lot from your blog! I'm glad you're mostly happy with the results so far, but sorry to hear you might have to have another surgery! I'm hoping and praying that doesn't happen! I am definitely glad to be doing this now rather than later, and very glad to have found you all! Your lessons and support are invaluable!

  9. Wow, I really hope you don't have to go through it again. For the results, I absolutely would if I had to, but I certainly wouldn't WANT to! best of luck!

  10. Hi,
I just found your blog and am finding it very informative. I have to say, some of it looks pretty rough. I found out I need to get the same thing you had done to me in a few months. I appreciate hearing about your experiences.
    Jason.
